Assistant Professor Dr. Supparerk Pothipairatana, Dean of the Faculty of Mass Communication, and Assistant Professor Dr. Siwaporn Sukittanon, Associate Dean for Research and International Relations, warmly welcomed the team from School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University, on the occasion of their participation in collaborative exchange program to develop and showcase cross-cultural short films between Thailand and China from September 19–22, 2024. The program brought together 15 students from Faculty of Mass Communication, Chiang Mai University and Tsinghua University’s School of Journalism and Communication to collaboratively produce a short documentary that highlights cross-cultural communication while promoting tourism and the rich cultural heritage of Chiang Mai on the international stage.
In addition to the film production, Assistant Professor Dr. Supparerk Pothipairatana, and Assistant Professor Dr. Siwaporn Sukittanon, discussed Professor Si Rou, Director of the Research Center for Audiovisual Communication, and Dr. Wang Jing from School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University, concrete plans for future cross-cultural short film screening aims to raise international awareness of cross-cultural communication through the powerful medium of film.
This project is supported by Chiang Mai University under the Seed International Initiatives project, which aims to enhance staff development, strengthen research capabilities, and promote collaboration between partner institutions. The initiative aligns with the Faculty of Mass Communication’s existing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with School of Journalism and Communication, Tsinghua University, a top 20 university according to the 2024 QS World Rankings. This collaboration reflects both institutions’ commitment to strengthening international partnerships in education and cultural exchange.
